Never Fully Trust Your GPS: My Real Estate Story

I've been showing properties for a while now and I've come to realize that GPS should not be relied upon completely, especially when I'm out with customers. In this blog post, I want to share a story that highlights the importance of being cautious when using GPS.

When I'm showing properties, I typically meet with my customers at the first property, we look at the property, and then they follow me to the next. I always key in the address into my GPS, but I know that there are some streets I'm still not familiar with and can easily get distracted. Therefore, I always make sure to have someone else with me to keep me on track.

On one particular day, I was showing properties in South Ouachita Parish and was following the GPS directions. We were heading down a blacktop road that turned into a gravel road and eventually led us through a metal gate and onto a dirt road. At this point, I was driving a pickup truck and was not thinking much about it, but I didn't realize that my customers were following behind me in a Honda Civic.

The dirt road turned into an ATV road, and all of a sudden, I saw someone waving their hands. It turned out that I had accidentally entered a private hunting club's shooting lane. The person informed me that this happened all the time and that somebody had probably played a joke within the GPS and rerouted people.

This story highlights the importance of being cautious when using GPS. While it is a useful tool, it is not always 100% accurate and can sometimes lead you down the wrong path. That's why it's always a good idea to double-check your directions or have someone with you to navigate.

In conclusion, GPS technology is a great tool for navigation, but it's important to remember that it's not perfect and should not be relied upon completely. Always be cautious and double-check your directions to ensure that you arrive at your destination safely and on time.
